Vdral or Ner (/glaː/ /or/ [purple] [chin]) is a temperate Town located in the Wǟlwu Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Vdral or Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Vdral or Ner was founded by Zesí Gegumer, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Vdral or Ner has a yearly average temperature of 10°C (50°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -7°C (20°F). Vdral or Ner receives an average of 159 cm/y (62 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Vdral or Ner covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1970 m (6463 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Vdral or Ner was founded durring the early 14th century in fall of the year 1310, by Zesí Gegumer. The establishment of Vdral or Ner was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Zesí Gegumer struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Vdral or Ner as a prison colony.

Vdral or Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vdral or Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Vdral or Ner is was constructed arround several broad paverstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The town's brittle defences are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Even the most brief look arround Vdral or Ner has a good chance of putting a church or shrine into the center of your view. The town is most certainly a god fearing community. It’s also definitely a god loving community. THe streetcornors are occupied by preachers, with the occasional intersection playing host to an actually friendly debate relating to the merits of various gods. Even the less popular as well as the less politically loved gods seem to have a space in Vdral or Ner, there’s even shrines to gods known to the region only through hearsay.

Civic Infrastructure

Vdral or Ner possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Vdral or Ner's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Vdral or Ner has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Vdral or Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

A substantial minority of the locals are descended from foreigners alien to their local neighbors. They may have been religious exiles, economic migrants, indigenous locals surrounded by the existing polity, or a foreign settlement conquered within the relatively recent past. The locals may not be enthusiastic about being ruled by others not of their kind, and their neighbors may look askance at the way foreign customs or even laws may be maintained.

Vdral or Ner's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..
